Lead us not into TEMPTATION!

Why oh why must there be this evil thing called, temptation?

We've all heard the story once or twice about Adam and Eve and how Eve ate the fruit after deliberately being warned from God not to - only THREE VERSES PRIOR! This makes me trace my ancestry real quick knowing where I get my "lack of better judgement" from.

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
— Genesis 3:6 NIV

If anyone ever doubted this story they would only have to read the last sentence to know it's truthfulness. In one of my all time favorite movies, My Big Fat Greek Wedding,  Maria Portokalos tells her daughter Toula, "...The man is the head, but the woman is the neck and she can turn the head any way she wants." It's true ladies - that being said let's help our fellow brothers out in always being conscious of that statement, for the good that is.

I couldn't help but think as I sat in Mass on Sunday listening to the Gospel (Mt 13:24-43) that there will always be wicked and evil around us. It was easy for me to think of myself as the wheat but when I stopped to examine my conscience (thank you Lord) I couldn't come to terms with the fact that sometimes I can be the weed. The weed that is choking out the good wheat growing.  The amazing part is that God isn't slashing the weeds out of the field, even though he surly has the power to do so. What a great example of free will and in the hope that these nasty, evil weeds may somehow be influenced by the wheat to amend and change their lives before they are collected, tied, and bundled for BURNING. Yikes. If we can ever take a hint, it might be a good one to grab ahold of.

What are some ways that we can encourage and be the BEST examples to one another?

-What a great cup of Joe!

Thanks for reading! Go out and be a great person.
