What is a Quinceñera?
The Quinceñera is a traditional celebration of a girl’s 15th birthday. On this day she will affirm her baptism as well as consecrate her new coming-of-age to the Blessed Mother. Even though the the Quinceñera is not recognized as a sacrament in the Catholic Church, it is respected as a very dear tradition held by many Hispanic Catholics.
Even though for the girl, Miss Quince Años, will be celebrating her life thus far and pray for her blessing as she becomes a young lady, she must make sure to take extra care to remember and take serious the promises that she will be making to God and her entire community. This celebration must always be given to God first and foremost and must be celebrated in a way that honors Him humbly and represents the the Quinceñera's coming of age in a clean and modest fashion.
